Toowoomba now has its own beachy burger shack, complete with everything but the sand in your toes and the beach across the road.
Straight from Noosa’s bustling Hastings Street comes Betty’s Burgers and Concrete Co., offering simple, yet totally tasty, mouth-watering burgers and a healthy selection of creamy custard ice creams (those would be the ‘concrete’ part of the equation).
The burgers aren’t huge – but they’re dense with flavour – meaning you can throw one down, feel satisfied, and avoid the food coma that typically comes from a huge burger.
We went to try them out today and became immediate fans of the soft bun and juicy meat patty. If you’ve ever tasted and loved the delight that is USA burger favourite Shake Shack you should get movin’ down to Betty’s because they’re similar in style and flavour.
Plus the concretes are dangerous for diets, with base flavours like ‘spiced pecan and banana cream pudding’ and ‘lemon raspberry cheesecake’ to choose from and the option to mix in ingredients like a Dello Mano brownie, Maltesers, and Persian Fairy Floss – it’s elastic waist pants all the way.
If you’re making sensible food choices you can do that at Betty’s too – a gluten free bun or a ‘Bare Betty’ – with no bun at all is available. They’re also fully licenced – hello grown up glass of wine with your burger.
Betty’s Burgers patties are hand made using the finest local grain fed beef, which is selected because of its consistent marbling. Patties are intentionally pressed on the grill to create a thick crust and lock in their natural juices.
The new store in Grand Central is the fifth Betty’s to open.
Initially inspired by owner, David Hales’ grandmother, Betty Anderson, Betty’s Burgers flagship Noosa store was quickly followed by one in Surfers Paradise and a third at The Kitchens in Robina.
We love the pastel-coloured design aesthetic that pays homage to the 1950’s and brings the ‘beach to the city’. We could totally see Danny and Sandy in at Betty’s ordering burgers and shakes to share.
Toowoomba is one of five new Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co. stores opening in 2017. Darling Harbour, Newstead, Pacific Fair in Broadbeach and Chermside will follow later in the year.
They’ll be open from 10am to 9pm seven days a week. Follow the goodness on Instagram and Facebook.
