Want to earn some extra cash? Take the advice of Jack Johnson and reduce, reuse, recycle this month by joining in the Garage Sale Trail.
It’s Australia’s biggest reuse community event and is officially happening for the first time in Toowoomba this year on Saturday 21 October and Sunday 22 October.
The idea is simple. With 10,000 garage sales over one big weekend, the organisers behind the Garage Sale Trail aim to encourage reuse, reduce waste, enable local community connectivity and provide a platform for fundraising.
Garage Sale Trail has grown from a grass roots idea in Bondi Beach into a national not-for-profit movement supported by 150 Councils Australia-wide and 300,000 participating Australians.
Last year the average household garage sale made $378, community group sales made $650 and school sales $1,500. That’s no small change.
You can register your own garage sale or join a group sale by going to garagesaletrail.com.au.
It’s free and easy to register. And to find where the sales are at just type in ‘Toowoomba’ in the search bar and all the sales in our area will pop up on a map – handy.
The Original Mix are hosting a group sale ‘The Collective Clear Out’ at St Luke’s on the weekend, find out more about what kind of goods they’re accepting and register to join the sale at theoriginalmix.com.
