We’re keeping you up to date on openings, launches and stuff you might want to know.
We last checked in in December last year, so there’s half a year of happenings to catch up on. There’s been a bucketload of new stuff, so let’s get started.
Grand Central
New additions to the evolving Grand Central development!
- In March Cotton On opened a new store on Level 2, offering Rubi shoes too.
- In May the Concierge Car Wash opened. They offer premium hand wash services and full vehicle detailing, and are located just inside the Little Street car park entry.
- On Saturday 9 June iPlay had their official launch at their recently opened space in Grand Central. (This is a different centre to the existing iPlay Café and Play Centre.)
- The Barvarian Toowoomba joined Grand Central on 14 June, bringing 17 beers on tap, big screens and bratwurst!
Openings, launches and coming soon
February brought us the reopening of the Quest – fresh and clean following the fire that demolished former neighbours Amigos Bar and Grill.
In April it was announced Toowoomba’s newest rooftop bar, atop the old Westpac Bank building would be opening in Spring! (feature picture)
In late April the owners of the Moose brought a bit of German themed fun to Walton Stores, opening up the Bavarian Biergarten. They serve beer and pizza #winning
Also in April Centro Bar and Grill opened in the old Tom Collins spot.
The Baker’s Duck enhanced everyone’s lives with a big change in May. They moved to a new space in Campbell Street with room to sit, eat and chat, branched out from Saturdays only to now be open Wednesday to Sunday, and have partnered up with Ground Up Espresso to serve coffee with your treats. Wow.
In late May the Barefoot Baker opened up a new restaurant in Ravensbourne offering lunch and dinner during the week and adding brekky to the line up on the weekend. Check them out on Facebook.
Also in May the Burke & Wills Hotel reopened after almost a year of being closed for a huge refurbishment. It’s a brand new place -with a new restaurant Zack’s to match.
And in late May The Finch introduced their dinner service – Thursdays to Saturdays from 6pm. Check out our review of dinner at The Finch!
On 12 June The Farm Shop Toowoomba opened at Westbrook. It’s a new place to get your farm fresh produce so head on out and take a look.
In June newbie Charred showed up on the scene. They promise to open soon offering modern Australian fare and share plates. Keep up-to-date on Facebook.
Kusina Asian Grill is brand spankin. They opened Friday 15 June and offer a selection of delicious looking grilled dishes with traditional Asian flavours. They’re at level 1, 417 Ruthven Street, near the Bailey’s building. Follow them on Instagram.
June has been a big month for food! Hana Japanese Restaurant added to the excitement this month by introducing teppanyaki to their offerings.
We’ve got the Bavarian Biergarten and The Bavarian Toowoomba, now completing this beer and bratwurst trio is Bar Wunder. This yet to be opened joint is keeping that German theme going – they promise an indoor bar and outdoor beer garden, and they invite you to bring your pupper along. Find out more on Facebook.
Another intriguing newbie yet to open is Burrow Café. Their Instagram promises all day breakfast and All Press coffee – we’re keeping a close eye on them for an opening date!
Closures
It’s goodbye to Nitrogenie in the Walton Stores, however Harajuku Gyoza have extended into their space.
