What inventions are you grateful for? Lightbulbs are good. Google Maps is equally lifesaving and time wasting. Those octopus-looking head scratchers are pretty cool.
Of my top three life changing inventions, two are hair related. First on the list is the Internet (just because of all the memes). Second: the GHD hair straightener, which revolutionised my morning routine. And third: laser hair removal.
Not to sound like an infomercial here, but after years of shaving and waxing, when I found laser hair removal I was epically and instantly converted. Unlike waxing you can shave between treatments. And unlike shaving, hair grows back sparser and softer, not like Jason Patric’s beard.
When it first hit the market treatments were super expensive. Thankfully since then both the technology has improved and the price has dropped. And we are about to reap all those benefits when Laser Clinics Australia opens the doors in the new Grand Central on 29 March.
Bringing the new clinic to us is Amanda Thurbin. Amanda’s a former Toowoomba girl who followed that well trodden antipodean path to London, found love there and stayed for a while before settling back in Sydney, where she became a client of Laser Clinics Australia.
“I loved the way I was treated. I was always treated with dignity, the service was great and the results were amazing,” she says.
That positive experience inspired Amanda to start her own clinic when her husband’s job prompted a move back to Toowoomba. The business planning has been two years in the making and Amanda is very excited to offer Toowoomba the same level of care she received as a client.
“We offer essential treatments like laser hair removal, which is what most people ask about. Personally, I love the different skin treatments that can be tailored depending on your needs,” she says.
“We offer a variety of skin treatments from microdermabrasion through to more advanced Fractional RF, and have four different types of cosmetic peels depending on your skin type and concerns. Also the cosmetic injectables side is really exciting. I’ve had some fantastic results and I think it’s becoming much more socially acceptable for women to make the choice to use wrinkle treatments or dermal fillers to achieve whatever result it is they desire.”
As a former personal trainer Amanda says she loves making a positive difference in people’s lives.
“This industry is about helping people to look and feel their best,” she says.
“We deal a lot with acne prone and damaged skin, skin that’s pigmented from sun damage, congested skin, fine lines, sensitivity. And we have a fantastic product line called Skinstitut that can help with all of that.”
Laser Clinics Australia is about state-of-art beauty technology and Amanda says the new Grand Central store will feature the latest and best machines on offer.
