COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS
Location: Level 1, outside Myer and Swarovski
A number of spring-inspired workshops will run throughout October at the Grand Central Workshop Hub. Book to attend workshops via Eventbrite or in centre at the Customer Service desk.
Every Thursday in October (5, 12, 19, 26): Origami Flowers Workshops
6pm-8pm. The Origami workshops are free, and no booking is required – simply drop by during the nominated times.
Learn the wonderful art of origami as you create beautiful flowers by folding paper to form colourful blooms. Paper, wire, glue, tape, and scissors will all be available at the workshop.
Saturday October 7: DIY Natural Make-Up & Beauty Products
10am and 2pm. Cost: $15. Duration: 60 minutes. Bookings are essential.
Discover how simple and natural ingredients can create a range of make-up and beauty products in one of these two exclusive workshops. The workshops will provide a deeper understanding of the benefits of each natural product and give you the hands-on experience necessary to make them from scratch. You can take home your creations in ready to use packaging.
Sunday October 8, 15 and 29: Floral Arrangements
10.30am. Cost: $20. Duration: 2 hours. Bookings are essential.
Learn tips and tricks of the trade so you can get the best out of your cut flowers and greenery. You will learn how to arrange beautiful blooms to create stunning bouquets to brighten up your home, and you’ll be able to take home your designer posy. All equipment supplied and includes fresh flowers, foliage, ribbons, wires, tapes, snips and pliers.
Saturday October 14: Modern Stitchery
10am and 2pm. Cost: $15. Duration: 60 minutes. All material supplied. Bookings are essential.
Learn the basic stitching techniques of this traditional art that’s been revived in a modern way in one of these two exclusive workshops. Let floral and foliage inspire your design as you stitch your very own unique piece to take home with you. You will be guided by an instructor who will provide a variety of different thread options, material to use on an embroidery hoop during the workshop, and inspiration to help with your design concept.
Saturday October 21 + Sunday October 22: Perfume Masterclass
11am and 1pm. Cost: $15. Duration: 60 minutes. Bookings are essential.
Guests will have the opportunity to discover raw materials, the building blocks of perfume, as well as learn about the history of perfume and how it is created. They will learn how to write a basic perfume formula and be able to create their own fragrance using the Olfactorium, a mini perfumer’s organ with the finest raw materials from France.
Saturday October 28: Watercolour
10am and 2pm. Cost: $15. Duration: 60 minutes. Bookings are essential.
Need a new creative outlet? Ever wanted to try your hand at Watercolour painting? Book in some creative down time at this workshop and learn observation and drawing skills to interpret a variety of beautiful botanical specimens. Using colour, composition and watercolour application, create a unique artwork that you will be happy to hang on the wall. This workshop is for any artistic skill level, with all materials supplied.
