Can you imagine Oprah’s voice? Got it? Ok, now read this like Oprah’s announcing it: Grand Central Stage 2 is coming!
For too long Toowoomba’s been a one K-Mart town. Now that’s all about to change when the K, Big W and Woolworths join forces underneath Grand Central’s new roof for the first time.
Centre Manager Shaine Beveridge today confirmed the next stage will open on Wednesday 29 March.
“In just over two weeks’ time, Kmart, Big W and Woolworths will open their doors at Grand Central, joining Myer, Target and Coles to create a single source of access for all these powerhouse brands in one convenient location,” he said.
“We will also be welcoming the first group of more than 100 specialty retailers to open this year, including a range of fast and fresh food outlets as well as a number of convenience-based retailers, providing even more reasons to visit Grand Central.”
Mr Beveridge also confirmed Best & Less as the latest brand to announce they’re joining the fun at Grand Central.
Toowoomba Living had a sneaky tour of the redevelopment recently and here’s what we love:
- The open and airy design with those beautiful timber ceilings and skylights we’ve seen in the retail galleria continue to impress
- The considerate design – lots of entry and exit points and lots of car parking. 850 new spaces were opened up in time for Christmas and more will be opened for this stage. At completion there will be 4,000 places to park.
- All the spaces for the 100 or so specialty retailers that will be joining the big three under this roof!
- The community precinct area, which is starting to take shape. It’s the part that fronts on to Margaret Street and has the curved balcony and stairs. With plans in place to landscape this area it should be a beautiful addition when complete.
While Stage 1 was all about fashion, Stage 2 is about starting to complete the vision to bring together fashion, beauty, lifestyle, homewares and convenience into a vibrant community hub.
These are the stores confirmed as ready to throw their doors open on 29 March:
- Big W
- K-Mart
- Woolworths
- Best & Less
- Laser Clinics Australia
The first group of the over 100 additional specialty stores to open this year will open in the next stage, including some food offerings. Ones we know about include:
- Betty’s Burgers
- Rozzi’s Italian Canteen
- Guzman Y Gomez
- Schnitz
