Jackie Howe Runway to Runway Gala Banquet – Friday 2 September
A highlight of the Jackie Howe Festival of the Golden Shears, the Runway to Runway Gala combines high end fashion and fantastic food in the iconic woolshed. Tickets to the gala are $150 and include bus transport and a single day family pass to the Jackie Howe Festival. RSVP to the event on Facebook.
Jackie Howe Festival & Artisan Market Day – Saturday 3 September
The Original Mix will curate a designer artisan market on Saturday 3 September from 8am to 4pm at the Jackie Howe Festival. Located in the Jondaryan Woolshed the markets are just one part of an event that will also include the gala Runway to Runway fashion show. City Heart Fashion Event – Saturday 3 September
The City Heart Fashion Event, which made its runway debut last year, is on Saturday 3 September at 6pm at the Armitage Centre.
Featuring the best of current trends, the City Heart Fashion Event will showcase collections from only local boutiques and retailers, and raise money for the Toowoomba Hospice. Tickets from $60.
Downlands Art Exhibition – Friday 9 to Sunday 11 September
It’s a Toowoomba arts institution and this year the Downlands Art Exhibition celebrates its 30th anniversary. The gala opening on Friday night is $50, you can also attend other special events throughout the weekend. Find out more here.
Westbrook Family Fun Day – Sunday 11 September
Head to Westbrook for a fun day to remember from 10am to 2.30pm on Sunday 11 September. Held in Centenary Park, the day asks for a gold coin entry to support the Lions Club and offers max fun, such as four jumping castles, superslide, live music, animal farm, kids play zone, food vendors and more. Grand Central and H&M opening – Thursday 15 September
The fashion focused retail galleria at Grand Central is coming! Brands like Country Road, Seed and Universal Store are on their way (no more trips to Brisbane #saveyourpetrolmoney) and H&M is already on the party bandwagon by announcing a grand opening event. RSVP to that on Facebook and keep an eye out for more announcements about what we can expect when the doors are thrown open on Thursday 15 September.
Carnival of Flowers – Friday 16 to Sunday 25 September
It’s back! Over 10 days Carnival will bring us our favourite events – like the Ergon Energy Flower, Food & Wine Festival and Heritage Bank Live Concert Series, Gala Dinner, and Grand Central Floral Parade. See the full program at tcof.com.au
Spring Polo – Saturday 24 September
Get classy and head to the Polo in Queens Park on Saturday 24 September from 11am to 5pm. VIP marquee tickets have sold out but you can still grab Canopy Lounge tickets for $40 for adults or arrange your own private marquee at $150 person. Carnival Con: Pop Culture Convention – Saturday 24 September
If polo isn’t your deal maybe cosplay is? From 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday 24 September the Toowoomba Library precinct will play host to a festival of comics, cosplay, anime, a gaming zone and demonstrations. More announcements on this first all ages con for Toowoomba on Facebook.
Spring Designer Markets – Saturday 24 September
Adding to the Carnival fun, these markets curated by the Original Mix will feature a fun, spring inspired theme. With music, food, flowers and fun and the usual high quality of stallholders we can expect from the Original Mix it’s one not to be missed.
