The Finch’s cute tag line ‘real food on the fly’ sums up everything you need to know about this brand spanking new coffee shop in the heart of Toowoomba’s CBD.
Coffee fiends, start forming an orderly line, this is the only place in town you’ll find Queensland’s own brew: Fonzie Abbott. Also on the menu: salads, sandwiches, sweet treats and fast and friendly service.
Try the bánh mì; it’s a flavourful combo of succulent meat, sweetly pickled carrot and crunchy cucumber, and a hard lunchtime option to beat. The Finch’s version of a bánh mì skips the traditional pâté spread. This is not necessarily a bad thing for people like me who like to close their eyes when eating a bánh mì and pretend liver is not involved in pâté.
The styling, with brick walls, timber flooring, and warm pendant lighting is modern and industrial, but the place doesn’t have that slick hipsters-only feel that pervades some coffee shops.
Whether you want to fly in, or perch for a while, The Finch should be on your to do list.
They’re open Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 3pm and Saturday from 7am-3pm. Check out their Facebook page for more info.
