On the third Saturday in May we drink whisky! Or, if you missed it, you can head along to Toowoomba’s first whisky festival – Malt Teaser at Blank Space on Saturday 2 June.
National Burger Day 28 May
Yaass burgers are the best. And Toowoomba has no shortage of options. Check out our homegrown Phat Burgers or try Hello Harry, Burger Urge, Grill’d or Betty’s Burgers for your fix.
National Doughnut Day 1 June
The first Friday in June is dedicated to doughnuts and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Round up this treat at Pizza & Pie Co, who have already promised to stock the shelves with doughy deliciousness for this v important day!
Celebrate all things gin at Toowoomba’s Bottomless World Gin Day Party at the Spotted Cow. There’s a four hour drink and food package on offer for $99 and they’re limited, so grab them before they sell out.
World Chocolate Day 7 July
A special day to celebrate chocolate? Heckin YES. Why not treat yourself to some artisan chocolate by one of Toowoomba’s newest businesses? Metiisto Artisan Chocolate was originally located in Sweden (so you know it’s good) but has since made the move to Toowoomba. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for where to find them – they pop up at the My Local Feast Farmer’s Market and other events and are stocked at Wendland Fine Foods.
International Lamington Day 21 July
This is OUR day Toowoomba. Don’t let stories of a Brisbane origin fool you. The lamington originated here, and we have the tea towels to prove it. Celebrate International Lamington Day by purchasing/making some lamo’s and then clean it all up with a Wonders of the Volcano lamington tea towel.
International Beer Day first Friday of August
Raise your glass to International Beer Day by grabbing your ticket to Toowoomba’s beer festival, Brewoomba on Saturday 4 August. This annual celebration of ale brings includes party time at The Spotted Cow, Tapestry Bar, Blank Space and Fitzy’s and a shuttle bus to get you around.
International Bacon Day 1 September
Mmm bacon. May we suggest a visit to Andrew’s Meats in Grand Central to grab a bacon-y breakfast from their grill? You won’t regret it. Want more bacon? Get two whole days of it at the Kingaroy Bacon Fest 24 to 26 August. They’re having a Kevin Bacon film festival so maybe go just for that?
International Coffee Day 1 October
Toowoomba’s unofficial drink of choice is coffee! We recommend checking out Ground Up Espresso’s new collab with The Baker’s Duck. Coffee. Pastries. One location, open five days a week (Wednesday to Sunday).
World Vegetarian Day 1 October
Vegetables! They’re good for you, and for the best tasting vegie food you should head to Little Seed. Eat in, pick up a meal or book a class to learn how to make your own vegan dishes.
