Still pulling together your Weetwood outfit? With less than a week until the most esteemed event on the Toowoomba racing calendar, you may be feeling a little frantic.
If you want a look that will remind everyone the day is more about the fillies off the field than on, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve put together a few last minute style tips that will guarantee an outfit that screams sophistication.
1. Mind the Length
A day at the races is the perfect opportunity to show off your feminine side. Keep hemlines below the knee with the rest of your look hinting towards conservatism that respects the strong traditions and dress codes of race day style.
2. Autumnal Colours
While the weather lately may be trying to trick us into believing summer is still here, we are in fact now in the Autumn months, and the long term forecast for Saturday is looking like a pleasant 25 degrees.
Embrace darker tones such as navy, burgundy or mustard, which are all set to be popular colour choices of AW16. And add interest to your outfit by incorporating textured fabrics, such as lace, knit or suede.
These dresses from Florence and Marabel hit the mark with their ladylike hemline length and beautiful winter tones.
3. Winter Millinery
Opt for headwear made from felt, wool or leather as opposed to straw, to keep your whole look seasonally appropriate. Try a wool fedora or wide brimmed hat to stand out from the usual embellished fascinators and headbands.
The main thing to remember is that you feel comfortable and confident in your outfit. There is nothing worse than being stuck in an outfit all day that makes you feel like you’d rather hide, than strut your stuff for Fashions on the Field.
Oh, and don’t forget a light jacket or wrap that can be thrown over your shoulders in case of a frosty Toowoomba evening.
