Here’s what’s happening this week in Toowoomba.
Toowoomba Open House – Saturday 17-Sunday 18 October
If you’ve ever wanted to know what’s behind the closed doors of some of Toowoomba’s most historic buildings this weekend’s your chance. Several private residences and buildings like the Downs Club, The Strand, Toowoomba City Hall and Sauce Kitchen will be flinging their doors open for us – free of charge. High tea and fashion parade at Gips – Saturday 17 October
Raise awareness and funds for breast cancer at the High Tea and Fashion Parade at Gips from 9.30am to 11.30am. For $45 a ticket gets you a glass of champagne, fine food, raffle, lucky door prize, goody bags and fashion. Call (07) 4616 6107 for tickets.
NineSeven Festival – Saturday 17 October-Sunday 1 November
A two week festival of football starts this weekend. The League 9s and Rugby 7s will play at Clive Berghofer Stadium and the whole event will be opened this Friday night with a black tie cocktail party at a mystery location. Visit nineseven.com.au for tickets, teams, playing times and more info.

Wanderlust Festival Sunshine Coast – Thursday 15 October-Sunday 18 October
Unplug from ordinary at this festival of mindfulness at Novotel Twin Waters this weekend. Yoga, music, mediation and outdoor adventures like stand up paddleboarding and hula hooping are on the agenda. Leading the music line up is Donavon Frankenreiter, Sneaky Sound System and The Flumes. Brisbane Oktoberfest – Friday 16-Sunday 18 October
Back again this weekend is Brisbane Oktoberfest, at the Brisbane Exhibition Ground from Friday. Authentic dancing, yodeling, and German sausages await, not to mention beer. Lots and lots of beer. There’s heaps on so check it all out and get your tickets at oktoberfestbrisbane.com.au
Stanthorpe Cup – Saturday 17 October
Country racing in Queensland’s wine capital is on this weekend at the Stanthorpe Cup. It’s $40 for an adult ticket to a reserved lunch in the marquee.
