Jondaryan Woolshed school holiday fun – Thursday 2 July (and Wednesday 8 July-Thursday 9 July)
Take kids back in time with damper making classes, shearing demonstrations and horse and cart rides at the Jondaryan Woolshed this school holidays. Family entry is $38.
The Laidley Show – Friday 3 July-Sunday 5 July
The Laidley Show celebrates 125 years in 2015 and will include Bull n Bronc riding on Friday night, KTM stunt bikes and a firework display Saturday night and a ute show and Smash Up Derby on Sunday.
Mud, Sweat and Fears – Saturday 4 July-Sunday 5 July
This weekend people will be getting dirty at Mud, Sweat and Fears, a Tough Mudder style team obstacle course. Money raised from the event will go to support Lifeline. There’s a few spectator vantage points along the course if you want to go along to support your mates.
Margaret Street Markets – Sunday 5 July
It’s on again! This weekend is a Buskers’ Market and is aiming to attract a record number of buskers, so take your spare change to toss into a guitar case or two.
The Platinum Wedding Showcase – Sunday 5 July
Getting hitched? The Platinum Wedding Showcase has all the vendors you need to plan your day. It’s on 8am-12pm at the Empire Theatre.

Cult Japan at Goma – Friday 3 July-Wednesday 2 September
A festival for Japanese film fanatics, Cult Japan kicks off this week at GOMA. Dark, unique and at times surreal, the Japanese film industry is known for storytelling that pushes limits. Get along to see The Ring, Howl’s Moving Castle and other cult classics. Adult tickets are $9 or get a five film pass for $36.
Taste of Winter Food Festival – Indooroopilly – Thursday 2 July-Wednesday 8 July
Indooroopilly’s new Gourmet Fresh food court continues to take fast food to new levels with their Tastes of Winter Food Festival. Head to Indro for cooking demonstrations, food tastings and children’s paddock to plate food activities. There’s different events each day so check the website for more details.
The Finders Keepers Market – Saturday 4 July-Sunday 5 July
It’s Brisbane’s turn to host The Finders Keepers Market, which features fashion, art, homewares and food from talented independent makers and designers. This is no ordinary market – the quality of the goods on offer is amazing so bring your cash money because you’re likely to fall in love with something, like a cashmere scarf from Once Was Lost, or beautiful ceramics by Paper Boat Press.

The Finders Keepers Market is on at the Old Museum. It’s a $2 entry fee.
Exhibition: The Photograph and Australia – Saturday 4 July-Sunday 11 October
This exhibition features 650 works by photographers, both known and unknown, from the 1840s to today. Head along to see how both photography and Australia have evolved over the past 175 years. Single adult entry is $12 or a season pass is $36.
State of Origin 3 – Wednesday 8 July
Finally Origin comes back to where it should be – Suncorp Stadium will host the decider this Wednesday night. Tickets are sold out so if you’re not going put on your best maroon trackies and settle in on the couch.
Traffic heads up: sold out events in Brisbane this weekend
If you’re in Brisbane this weekend and wondering what’s up with the traffic, the Story Bridge is closed from 4am to 7pm on Sunday 5 July for a special Eat St Markets on the bridge. This 1km smorgasbord is in honour of the bridge’s 75th anniversary. And, Saturday night Bakery Lane in the Valley is hosting a sold out Dinner Under the Stars. So plan your trip around the Valley and City carefully!
