Travelling Film Festival – Friday 9-Sunday 11 October
The Toowoomba Strand hosts the Travelling Film Festival, part of the Sydney Film Festival this weekend. Opening night features the film adaptation of celebrated memoir Holding the Man and there’s other national and international cinema throughout the weekend. Single tickets are $14 or you can get passes if you want to go to the movies all weekend.
Matthew Condon – Tuesday 13 October
Writer Matthew Condon presents the third part of his triology ‘All Fall Down’ chronicling the career of former Queensland Police Commissioner Terry Lewis at the Toowoomba City Library. It starts at 6.30pm and bookings are essential – contact the Library.

Brisbane Oktoberfest – Friday 9-Sunday 11 October
The first of two weekends of German style fun, Brisbane Oktoberfest is Australia’s largest and it’s on at the Brisbane Exhibition Ground from Friday. Authentic dancing, yodeling, and German sausages await, not to mention beer. Lots and lots of beer. There’s heaps on so check it all out and get your tickets at oktoberfestbrisbane.com.au
