Creativity Workshops at Grand Central – various dates
In the lead up to First Coat, Grand Central is celebrating all things art, culture and creativity, hosting a variety of exciting, colourful and larger-than-life activities at the centre until May 21. Activities include things like making your own tote bag, or check yourself out in their mirror illusion. Some workshops you have to book for, find out more here.
Cinco de Pop – Saturday 6 May
May 5 in Mexico is Cinco de Mayo, commemorating the Battle of Puebla – when the Mexican army defeated France forces. It’s now a day of celebration, and it’s spread to Toowoomba with The Spotted Cow’s Cinco de Pop at the Mills Precinct. There’ll be tacos galore and Mexican beer. Tickets are $10, the party starts at 4pm. RSVP on Facebook.
Mother’s Mayhem – Saturday 6 May
Toowoomba City Rollers presents a night out of roller derby thrills and spills. There’ll be two games, raffles, food and an bar at the Clive Berghofer Arena. Tickets are $5 a person, kids are free.
Pink Fig Mother’s Day Markets – Sunday 7 May
40 artisan stalls with live music, food vans and free kids activities, this is a fundraiser for the Darling Downs Christian School. Gold coin donation to get in, from 12pm to 5pm. Find out more on Facebook.
Bob Evans at The Spotted Cow – Thursday 11 May
Leave home on a Thursday night to catch Bob Evans’ solo act. Tickets are $25 and it kicks off at 8pm.
Mother’s Day Classic – Sunday 14 May
Since inception, participants have walked nearly 6.5 million kilometers, now the Mother’s Day Classic lines up for its 20th year. This year’s event is at Queens Park from 7am, RSVP on Facebook and register online.
Mother’s Day luncheon at Preston Peak – Sunday 14 May
Enjoy a fabulous day out with Mum at our own local winery. On offer: the famous Preston Peak grazing platter, glass of sparkling and a sit down luncheon with main course and dessert. Theatre: Constellations – Thursday 18 May
Empire Theatre is bringing us a Queensland Theatre Production in Constellations. A story of how a beekeeper and a quantum physicist fall in love starring Jessica Tovey and Lucas Stibbard. Adult tickets $56.
First Coat – Friday 19 May to Sunday 21 May
The not to be missed festival that’s turned our city into a maze of amazing street art, First Coat is back! There will be workshops, talks and of course, art. Keep up to date on the Facebook page and website. Also catch the fourth annual First Coat Markets, hosted by Ruby Red Industries and the Original Mix. Find vintage and original gems at the markets on Saturday 20 May from 10am to 2pm, in the Bell Street Mall.
An Evening of Enchantment – Friday 19 May
Gettin’ hitched? Check out this wedding expo at the Mills Precinct. From 5pm to 8pm, tickets are $10 find out more info here.
Brick Event – Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May
Everything is awesome! A Lego event is coming to the Toowoomba Showgrounds from 9am to 4pm both days. Build some lego and check out 30 displays. And wear your hardest shoes, nobody wants to step on a lego. Adult tickets $14.50, children aged three to 15 are $9.50 and kids under three are free. Hampton Festival – Sunday 21 May
A few workshops are taking place on the Friday and Saturday and then the main event is Sunday, when you can grab something delicious from one of the many food vendors and kick back under the trees to enjoy some live music. It’s always a good day out – find out more at Hampton Festival.
Toowoomba Million Paws Walk – Sunday 21 May
Doggos do a walk for a cause! Take your furry friend on a 1.2km, 3.5km or 4.5km walk starting at Queens Park. You can show up on the day but your ticket will be a little more expensive. Register online now for this perfect day out.
Disaster Relief Gala – Saturday 27 May
Now in its third year, the Rotaract Club of Toowoomba Disaster Relief Gala Dinner will be held at the Mills Precinct. All funds raised on the night will go towards Rotary for easing the financial strain of natural disasters. Tickets are $110 per person or $1100 for a table of 10. Run, Ride, Race 4 Research – Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 May
Raising money for prostate cancer research via It’s a Bloke Thing, the Run, Ride, Race 4 Research includes sporting events of various lengths, a family fun day and a VIP Hospitality Marquee for prime views of all the action. Tickets to the VIP marquee are $99 per person and include food and drinks from 11am to 4pm.
